DESCRIPTION: 

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Digital Skills Officer/trainer to join our team. He/she will be a trainer & support the youth coordinator to monitor technology-based projects, events, and workshops to ensure effective implementation. The Digital Skills Officer/trainer will also be responsible for developing and upgrading the related curricula. In addition, he/ she will deliver workshops to participants as well as trainers to build youth capacities.

This person will be an active member in BRAVE Project – Building Resilient and Vibrant Environments – that is funded by UNICEF and implementing by the Arab Resource Center for Popular Arts (ARCPA) as a Lead Partner. BRAVE is implementing all across Lebanon with its 6 local sub-partners: SHAHD Association/Baalbeck, Fraternity Association/Beirut & Tyre, Witness Association/Tyre, the Human Development Center (HDC)/Ein Helweh, ULYP and Al-Mubader Orgaznization/Chouf.  

The objectives are:

  1.  To build the capacities and skills of children, youths, CSOs, and caregivers in marginalized societies in Lebanon.
  2. To promote tolerance and acceptance among host communities and all different communities residing in Lebanon.
  3. To provide youth with soft skills, technical skills and other kinds of support required to increase their chances of employability.

BRAVE activities reached out to all regions through the active collaboration of the implementing partners, and in cooperation with a network of organizations working among marginalized communities in Lebanon, mainly Palestinian camps and gatherings.

Organization profile: 

The Arab Resource Center for Popular Arts (ARCPA), commonly known as AL-JANA, was established in 1990 as a local NGO registered in Lebanon. ARCPA works with marginalized communities through documenting their enriching experiences and creative contributions and building on them, while at the same time enhancing the capacity of youth towards conflict transformation, active learning and creative expression. Furthermore, the organization specializes in producing educational and cultural resources based on community experiences and creative contributions.

Duties:

  • Ensure successful implementation of technology based projects, events and workshops.
  • Contribute in developing and upgrading Technology and Robotics curricula and STEM Education.
  • Provide best practices and common strategies for implementing the curricula in classes.
  • Provide capacity building for BRAVE staff where required or recommended by the administration.
  • Deliver robotics and technology workshops.
  • Participate in project’s meetings, coordination meetings, and field visits as requested and provide feedback.
  • Represent ARCPA in related events.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, electronics engineering or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in students’ instruction and/or training.
  • Ability to objectively observe, coach, and mentor peers.
  • Deep knowledge in Arduino microcontroller, electronics, sensors, actuators, and wiring circuits.
  • Deep knowledge in developing mobile application using MIT App Inventor.
  • Deep knowledge in coding languages, C/C++, Arduino sketches, drag-and-drop coding, among others.
  • Ability to design and implement robotics, IOT, and electronics projects using Arduino and MIT App Inventor.
  • Experience in curriculum development and its relation to STEM in the classrooms is a bonus.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.

  • Perform other job-related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
